Bob Hannam is a first time filmmaker currently based in San Francisco, CA and originally raised just outside of Bradford, West Yorkshire, Northern England. He has worked in the music business for over 20 years, most prominently managing merchandise for a whole host of bands whilst touring around the world, and is currently the Co-CEO of Revolve Merchandise.Through his touring work, Bob often crossed paths with The Melvins in various locations and became good friends with the band members over time. Whilst accompanying the band on a European tour back in 2009 he decided to take a video camera along to film a bunch of footage. When pressed by the band as to what he was going to do with this footage he replied his goal was to one day make a documentary. Five years later and that goal is finally ready to be completed.
Ryan Sutherby is a music enthusiast and first-time filmmaker, currently living in Portland, Oregon. He grew up in Montesano, Washington, and has been a fan of the band since his first introduction to them in 1992. Thirteen years later, in 2005, he filmed his first of countless Melvins shows. In 2012, after many years of talking about creating a documentary, he was convinced to do so by both his girlfriend, and original Melvins drummer Mike Dillard. He approached Buzz with the concept, and was given the okay.
On January 1st, 2014, Bob and Ryan were introduced to one another, and after a few lengthy conversations decided to pool their work together. The Colossus Of Destiny: A Melvins Tale is the final product of two first-time filmmakers who have worked for over seven years collectivley to bring you this movie. We hope you enjoy it.
